How to Use Symbiota’s Organic Sourdough Starter
Activate the Starter:
If you receive the starter in dried form, rehydrate it by mixing it with 1 cup of lukewarm water and 1 cup of flour (preferably organic stone-ground or white spelt). Let it sit at room temperature for 24 hours.
Feeding the Starter:
Once hydrated, feed the starter daily with equal parts of flour and water. For example, add 1/2 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of water each day.
Stir well and cover loosely with a cloth or lid to allow airflow while preventing contaminants.
Ready to Use:
Your starter will be ready to use for baking once it has doubled in volume and has a pleasant, slightly tangy aroma. This process usually takes 1-3 days.
